Just less than two years after starting as a Research Associate with the Civic Academy for Africa’s Future (CiAAF), Emmanuel Awohouedji joined the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as a PhD Student in Human Geography and Urban Studies in September 2021. Working under the supervision of Claire Mercer and Ryan Centner, he is researching urban infrastructures in the Republic of Benin, West Africa. He is investigating “city-making” at the intersection of postcolonial governmental discourse and citizen’s actions in the Global South. Along with the urban, Emmanuel is also interested in African history, religion, mental health, Catholicism, and environmental politics among others.
